Discover the Cosmos Teacher Training Workshop

created: Wed, 29 Feb 2012

Date: Wednesday Feb 29th 2012, 9.30am - 4.00pm

Aims: As part of the EU-funded 'Discover the Cosmos' project, the National School's Observatory, Faulkes Telescope Project and the Particle Physics Research group at the University of Birmingham are joining forces to run a 'Particle Physics and Astronomy' teacher training workshop on the 29th February 2012, in Birmingham, UK. The workshop will focus on:

? how the current resources of the respective organisations can be used to good effect in the classroom
? explore what new resources teachers would like to see developed in the coming years.
It is hoped that teachers attending the training workshop will
? form a UK focus group who will work closely with the three partners above. The aim is to work with the focus group teachers to obtain informed and constructive feedback on the wide range of current resources;
? possibly come along to one or two of the wider teacher training workshops or student workshops that will follow in Year 2 of the project;
? run their own local teacher training or student workshops, using the resources or a selection of them.

The workshop is suitable for: Secondary School teachers of Physics, Chemistry, Astronomy and Maths
